Chuck is the man

Can I just say how much I love the show, Chuck. Not only did they use a song from Band of Horses ("No One's Gonna Love You") (a band everyone needs to get into) last night, but the super hot girl in it is named Sarah, and if you take her and Chuck's initials, you get C and S, just like me and Sarah. Gotta love it.

Emmys
Well, congrats to Rainn, Jenna, Steve, Ben Emerson and Terry O'Quinn for their acting nominations at the Emmys. (I think Krasinki, Fox and Lily were screwed, but whatever) and I was pleased to see all the noms that Lost, Heroes and Studio 60 received, even if it wasn't in major categories.

Old friend, new whore?

That title has nothing to do with what's in this post; it's just one of my favourite quotes from That '70s Show and I thought would grab people's attention.

So, I thought I'd start it out with my thoughts what I'm reading/watching/listening to for anyone who cares:

Books )
Flicks )
Tuneage )

So, other than that, I'm just feeling pretty old, since my brother is graduating from high school Friday. We had his graduation party yesterday, which was fun (I had to laugh at how back-handedly derogative his cakes were, with messages like "You Made It!") but really hammered in how old I feel. My crazy super Catholic grandmother is coming in Thursday for a few days, which is always interesting. This time she's bringing her boyfriend, and I'm really tempted to give her a hard time for sleeping with a man who she isn't married too, but that would require me thinking about my grandmother sleeping with someone, and that's all kinds of ::shudders:: so, not going to do that.

Also, the Kohl's Sarah works at better get their arses in gear and let her know she has the time off so she can come visit, because if not, I'm just going to be listening to blues records for the next couple of weeks.

Sorry I was so rambly, but I hope everyone's summer is starting out well!

First Column as the Met's new TV Columnist
So, I guess all my TV watching is going to pay off, here, as I'm the Met's new TV columinst, which is pretty exciting (there'll be a big Lost column in a week or so, for you Losties!) but for now, this is about Heroes. Enjoy! *Disclaimer - I did not write the headline, which I think is sorta cheesy*

Heroes...Lost and X-Men have a love-child

Late again!

So, here's my newspaper story from the past week. Sorry I didn't post it sooner, but like apparantly everyone else, I've been sick. Anyway, it's a little treat for Simpsons fans!

My first published college news article
So, gang, here it is - my first published story at Metro. Is it particularily life-altering or world-changing journalism? No, not really, unless the decision to buy the new 8th season of "The Simpsons," is the biggest event in your life right now. Still, it's rather exciting to be a "published journalist." Check it out if you want!

The joys of being a critic
So, seeing as school starts Monday for me, we had our first newspaper meeting on Sunday. I write for the Features section, which is a lot of fun, and so my first story is to review the new Season 8 of The Simpsons that came out yesterday. The only problem is that it's due tomorow, so I literally spent a good 7+ hours in my basement, with a lot of root beers, a notebook and pen, just going through episode after episode, watching special features, listening to commentaries, hunting down easter eggs, and taking notes on pretty much every episode I watch. And I'm not even half way through. Luckily for me, this is quite possibly the best Simpsons season ever, so it's not too bad. Ah, the joys of being a critic...
